Firefox releases new version : Beata, Aurora, Nightly for users

Firefox split the development process into several "channels", each working on a build in a different stage of development. The most recent available build is called "Nightly Builds" and offers the latest, untested features and updates.

The "Aurora" build is up to six weeks behind "Nightly" and offers functionality that has undergone basic testing. The "Beta" channel is another six weeks away. It provides improved stability over the nightly builds and is the first development milestone that has the "Firefox" logo.

What’s New in Firefox Aurora for Android:

The latest Firefox Aurora for Android has lots of exciting new experimental features that make browsing simpler and more intuitive, especially on tablets. This update also includes technologies that will help developers create more interactive websites and apps.

What’s New for Developers:

Integrating the Camera UI in the browser: Developers can now use a simple input element to use the device’s camera to take pictures directly from a Web page.

HTML5 form validation API: Firefox Aurora for Android now supports HTML5 automatic input validation. This feature makes validating certain types of input much simpler for developers.

What’s New for Firefox Aurora for Windows, Mac and Linux:

New Type Inference Technology: Firefox Aurora introduces Type Inference, a new JavaScript engine optimization that makes the browser faster than the current Firefox on Kraken and V8 JavaScript benchmarks.

JavaScript DNT Detection:Web developers can now use JavaScript to detect if a user has asked to opt out of behavioral tracking.

Additional support for Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion): Firefox Aurora updates the new application toolbar and icon styles of Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and includes support for the two-finger swipe navigation gesture and improved multi-monitor support.

Support for Chunked XHR: Firefox Aurora now supports chunking for XHR requests. This allows websites to display data as it arrives instead of waiting for an entire download to complete.

Currently (January 2012), a Firefox 10 Included speed dial, 64-bit versions of Mozilla Firefox 10 32-bit, Mozilla Firefox 10 64-bit beta release is in the "Beta" channel, a Firefox 11 alpha release is in the "Aurora" channel, and a Firefox 12 pre-alpha release is in the "Nightly Builds" channel.

Features planned for future versions include silent updating so that version increments will not bother the user, although the user will be able to disable that function. A different looking user-interface called "Australis" is also planned.
Test builds can be downloaded from the Firefox development channels: "Beta", "Aurora", and "Nightly Builds".
